DLI Issachar Practicum
By choosing to be an AP Partner you are agreeing to:
Start by reviewing the other three Practicum webpages. It will be important that you understand what the Practicum entails so that you are able to support the participant properly.
1. Review Website
2. Regular Prayer
Praying throughout the Practicum year. This could look like praying weekly for them or however God might lead you. Regardless, it is to offer up prayers for this person with great expectation of the good work that God has planned during this program year.
3. Monthly Meetings
Meet monthly (October - April) either in person or online. It will be important to discuss with the participant who will be responsible for setting the meetings. If it is the participant who is setting the meetings, still don't hesitate to remind them if you have not heard from them.
4. Listening Well
Use the 80/15/5 rule when together. That is roughly using 80% of the time to listen, 15% of the time to ask questions, and 5% of the time to offer advice/counsel. However, this is not to dismiss the potential for some very important and valuable counsel (primarily when a person asks for feedback).
5. Keep Confidential
Some discussions may involve issues or information that the participant would like to keep confidential. In general consider making everything confidential unless the participant lets you know otherwise.
Role Description: Support the Practicum participant through prayer and meeting once a month in person or online from October through April.
